(formerly known as Pin-Up Of The Month)
December 2014 – Lydia is learning to do the Femme fatale – Candy style!
October 2014 – Not exactly pin-up art, but this is where I’m heading – Candy in beautiful Bruges. The little man on the left is an homage to René Magritte.
September 2014 – Another impression from last Summer – Candy and Lydia in Surrealistic Lille.
July 2014 – Ruby is back and in great shape! I started this in my hotel room in Dunkerque so the maritime atmosphere was right there.
March 2014 – Simple but elegant – Candy’s favourite style. This pose was again inspired by June Havoc.
March 2014 – Dinah Shore was a popular singer in the 1940s. This picture was done with various graphite media.
January 2014 – Veronica Lake. At first I wanted to put this into the portraits section, but then I thought it has some atmosphere so it wouldn’t look bad in the main gallery.
December 2013 – Here’s Ela wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
October/November 2013 – Candy in Paris! Seen here on Pont Royal with the Notre Dame towers and the cupola of the Institut de France in the background. While there, Miss Gwilt also decided to try a straight hair-do which suggests more lightness. I used Derwent pastel pencils and also a bit of Drawing on pastel paper.
September 2013 – Here’s Ava Gardner for you with an image to say goodbye to the last days of summer!
August 2013 – Carole Landis again. This picture has been done entirely with the UK-made Derwent “Drawing” line of pencils. They have a particular texture and color range that makes them a favorite for life and nature studies and I have seen some pretty dramatic portraits done with them too, so I thought, why not try them on a pin-up? Carole served as the perfect model.
July 2013 – Experimenting with sepia – lovely Lizabeth Scott striking a classic pose by a rocky seaside.
June 2013 – Annie’s long awaited debut, inspired by our recent trip to Italy, where she particularly liked the many “portici” (archways).
May 2013 – Spring is finally here so Kate went out to pick some flowers! Those familiar with the genre may notice it was inspired by an Edward Runci painting.
April 2013 – Dream Girl Carole: When I first saw Gil Elvgren’s “Dream Girl”, I thought it would have been a great pose for Carole Landis so I did a new version of it.
March 2013 – It is still rather cold outside so Pearl decided to warm up your thoughts by doing a test run for the bikini season! This particular motif was originally painted by her namesake, Pearl Frush.
February 2013 (2) – Cowgirl Carole – In the 1941 movie Moon Over Miami, Carole Landis appeared in a very cute western outfit along with Betty Grable. I liked it so much that I decided to make a pin-up out of it, borrowing the pose from Elvgren’s “Ready For Roundup”.
February 2013 – Gorgeous Candy starts off the Pin Up Of The Month section – and got herself a new hairdo for the occasion.
